Can the cable of the electric lock be replaced by a network cable?
The line from the electric lock to the access control board in the access control construction looks very ordinary, but the irregular use of the line can easily cause the failure phenomenon that is difficult to find the cause, this must be paid attention to!
Due to the relatively large working current of various electric locks (compared to other devices in the access control system, such as access control board and access card readers), the electric locks are at a certain distance from the controller, and the voltage drop on the lock wires will be relatively large. If the pressure drop is too large, the electric lock will sometimes be able to move, sometimes not (such as the magnetic lock sometimes has insufficient suction). Shows that the door switch is abnormal. It may even grab current resources with the controller, making the controller insufficient power supply, restarting or even crashing.
Some engineers are convenient for wiring or purchasing, using network cables to wire the electric lock to the controller can easily cause malfunctions, although there seems to be no problem during debugging, problems will often occur after a period of time.
If the cable length from the electric lock to the controller is less than 50 meters, a two-core power cord with a cross-sectional area of 1.0 square millimeter is required, and no shielding is required, if it exceeds 50 meters, please double and add a two-core power cord for parallel power supply. If the cable length is greater than 100 meters, it is recommended to move the controller closer to the door electric lock to shorten the wiring distance. The cross-sectional area of the network cable is 0.2 square millimeters, which is 5 times smaller than our standard wire, so it is absolutely impossible, even if the distance between the controller and the electric lock is very short. The electric lock door magnetic signal line can be a network cable. Some people combine the four strands of the network cable to power the electric lock, although it is close to the norm in theory, it is not recommended. Doing so will cause other hidden dangers such as unstable connection terminals.
